Sumac has an astringent, anti-inflammatory and hemostatic effect. 
It is used for purulent skin rashes, wounds, boils, sweating of the feet, hair loss, bleeding, swollen and purulent gums, hemorrhoids, joint swelling, etc. 


 

It is also used with a very good effect for white discharge (for vaginal washes), hard-to-heal wounds, aphthae of the oral cavity, stomatitis, pyorrhea, inflammation of the gums, etc. In Bulgarian folk medicine, sumac is used for hemoptysis, gastritis, ulcers, colitis, inflammation of the intestines and stomach.

 

Treatment of hemorrhoids with sumac. Tetra can be applied as an herbal bath or poultice. Gauze or a piece of cotton soaked in a decoction of the herb is placed on the affected area, which must remain for at least an hour. Since the area is very delicate, you can also try a bath with sumac. For an instant effect, a standing bath is recommended , which requires a large basin. The prepared decoction (5 tablespoons of herb per 5 liters of water) is poured into a basin and you need to stay in it for 15-20 minutes.

 

For painful and bleeding hemorrhoids , it is applied every day. Tetra has a hemostatic effect. In addition to stopping the blood, it will also relieve the pain.

 

Sumac for wounds . In case of wounds, sumac instantly restores the integrity of torn skin fibers. Applied in the form of a compress, it soothes inflammation, removes swelling and reduces pain.

 

You can apply gauze soaked in a decoction of the medicinal plant (a tablespoon of the herb to half a liter of water) on the torn area.

You can also smear the affected area with a drop of sumac oil dissolved in 50 milliliters of olive oil. This will soften and cool your skin.

 

Chemical composition . They contain 15 to 25% gallotannins, 3-5% free gallic acid, flavonol glycosides and essential oil, in the composition of which myrcene, apinene, camphene, linalool and a-terpinol have been found.

 

Drugs. The leaves ( Folia Cotyni ) are used medicinally.
